Barney Harahan Memorial Fund
Established 2002
as a fund of
the Chester County Community Foundation

 

The primary purpose of the Fund shall be to provide financial support for charitable purposes related to the research and awareness of Mesothelioma and Asbestos-related illnesses.

 

 

Our Goal:  Awareness and research so that others may live

 

Barney was diagnosed with cancer on December 27, 1999  and died on July 10, 2000.  He lived for 195 days of in-patient testing, a biopsy, an EPP surgery, radiation and abdominal surgery and then he died of a cancer called malignant mesothelioma.

By the time a patient finds out they have this disease, it normally has taken over their life.

Mesothelioma is difficult to diagnose due to limited knowledge by the patient or the medical community.

There is no cure but we know what causes it… Mesothelioma is caused by exposure to Asbestos.
