Michael G. Maybroda Memorial Fund

Mission
Statement...
The Michael G. Maybroda Memorial Fund has been created to
commemorate Michael’s lifetime, which was cut short too early.
The Fund was initiated by Mike’s family and friends, who decide
on grants to charitable causes that honor Mike’s legacy,
celebrate his accomplishments, and exemplify his commitment to
serving the community. With this mission in mind, the family
wishes to remember Mike by presenting one West Chester
University Student, who embodies Mike’s love of life and
community involvement, with a $750.00 scholarship.
Since 2007, scholarships have been awarded to the following
students:
2007 – Andrea Helfrich – $500 Scholarship
2008 – Jeslin Grace Joseph – $500 Scholarship
2009 – Laura Putman – $750 Scholarship
2010 – Nathan P. Kutz – $750 Scholarship
2011 – Brooke A. Hartka – $750 Scholarship
These students were chosen because of their accomplishments and
their commitment to serving the community.
Michael was a communications student at WCU who died tragically
just before graduation. The scholarship was started by his
family, friends, classmates, and neighbors in an effort to
continue what Mike brought to his school and his community. The
loss of Michael was profound, and his family will forever miss
their smiling son, brother, cousin, nephew, grandson, god-son,
and friend.
