The Hickman Fund

About The Hickman...
The Hickman, a personal care home residence for older adults, has been providing excellent care to the residents of Chester County and the surrounding area for over a century. Founded by two Quaker women in 1891, The Hickman is conveniently located in the heart of historic West Chester. A non-profit community, our spirit of caring and respect is accorded to each individual regardless of race, faith, or ethnic identity. Our small, family-like atmosphere and close ties to the surrounding community make The Hickman a wonderful place to call home.

About the Hickman Fund...
The Hickman Fund is an endowment fund entrusted with the Chester County Community Foundation. Permanent in nature, this endowment fund creates a sustainable flow of grant dollars to benefit The Hickman for perpetuity. Through prudent investment, both the body of the endowment and the distribution available for grant-making increase over time.

The Hickman Fund helps to provide
The Hickman with:
Seed money for innovative new programs
A consistent base of funding during economic downturns
Long-term sustainability

Endowment gifts can be given now, through gifts of cash, publicly traded securities, and closely held stock.  They can also be given later, through planned gifts, such as:
Bequests
Charitable gift annuities
Charitable remainder or lead trusts
Gifts of life insurance
Gifts of real estate

Endowment & Planned Giving Administration...
The Hickman partners with the Chester County Community Foundation for its planned giving and endowment management services. Donors are urged to contact either The Hickman or the Chester County Community Foundation to discuss endowment giving and planned giving options.

The mission of the Community Foundation is to encourage people from all walks of life to create or contribute to lasting philanthropic legacies, in order to improve the quality of life in Chester County. At the Community Foundation, all conversations with prospective donors and their advisors are held in confidence and without obligation.

When there's a will, there's a way...
Many donors find that a bequest to the Hickman Fund is one of the simplest ways to give back and perpetually take care of the organization that matters so much to them.

For those considering a bequest, here is sample language for your will:
“I give ___% or $___ or the remainder of my estate or trust to the Hickman Fund at the Chester County Community Foundation.”

Donors who choose to notify the Hickman of bequest arrangements will be included in the Chester County Community Foundation’s Legacy Society, if they so wish.

The Hickman Fund is a fund of the Chester County Community Foundation. A copy of the official registration and financial information of the Chester County Community Foundation may be obtained by calling the PA Department of State at 1-800-732-0999. Registration does not imply endorsement.
